When you accept card payments through SalonHub360 Payments, you may receive a 1099-K tax form. This article explains where that form comes from and how it fits with your records.
Note: This is general information, not tax advice. For guidance on your specific situation, talk to a qualified tax professional.
Who issues your 1099-K
Your 1099-K comes from Stripe, the payments company that processes card payments behind SalonHub360 Payments — not from SalonHub360. Because you're the business of record and your earnings are deposited straight into your own bank account, Stripe is the payment settlement entity that reports those card transactions.
- SalonHub360 does not issue a 1099-K. We're zero-commission software; we never take a cut of your sales and we aren't your payment processor of record.
- Stripe issues the 1099-K for the card payments it settles to you, where reporting thresholds apply.
What a 1099-K covers
A 1099-K reports the gross amount of card payments you received in a calendar year — that is, payments made by card through SalonHub360 Payments. A few things to keep in mind:
- It reflects card payments only. Cash, check, and other manual tenders you record in SalonHub360 aren't card transactions and aren't part of a Stripe 1099-K.
- It's a gross figure. It doesn't subtract processing fees, refunds you issued, or your own business expenses.
- Thresholds and rules change and vary by state and year. Whether you receive a form, and when, is determined by the IRS and Stripe — not by SalonHub360.
Where to find your form and tax details
- Your 1099-K and tax settings live with Stripe. You can reach your payments account details from Settings → Payments in SalonHub360. Stripe contacts you (usually by email) when a form is available.
- Keep the email and business details on your payments account up to date so your tax documents reach you. See Update your bank account & payout details.
Reconciling with your SalonHub360 reports
Your reports dashboard shows revenue across all payment methods, so it won't match a card-only 1099-K exactly. When detailed sales and sales-tax reports arrive with the payments milestone (today they're marked "Coming with payments" in the report library), you'll have more breakdowns to reconcile against your Stripe documents.
Tip: Sales tax you charge clients is configured in your policies and per-service settings, separate from your own income taxes. For how SalonHub360 Payments and fees work, see How SalonHub360 Payments works.
